Removing Prayers from the Western Wall

Apparently once a year, just before Passover, they remove all of the prayers from the Western Wall.  It makes me sad to think my prayer won't be there anymore, but I do appreciate that they bury the prayers on the Mt. of Olives - that is prime real estate.

:(   Guess we'll have to make one more stop at the Wall before we leave.  I didn't realize they took prayers out once a year!  It only makes sense, I guess.  Where else would they go?  On the bright side, I probably won't have any trouble finding a crack to slip my prayer into. (Source)

Men help remove messages and prayers written by thousands of people addressed to God from the cracks in the Western Wall in preparation for the upcoming Jewish Passover holiday in Jerusalem, Israel. All the notes once collected will be buried in a special place at the Mount of Olives, according to Jewish law.
